Memories
Jerry Kowalsky has uploaded the video Steve Kaiser made for our 50th reunion. It has scenes from our time at the Academy and some shots made in later years. To watch it, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkFkLsKpzoM
It was really a wonderful experience viewing the USNA Class of 1955 video - even a bit emotional as I looked back. I left as a plebe to go another way but I well remember my days on board, my roommates and friends. My brother, Bill, was USNA Class of 1953 and we did see each other but not enough. We marched together in an Annapolis "out-in-town" church party on Sundays. I attended Class of '55's 55th reunion and felt so warmly welcomed back by old classmates. As things went, I wore a Navy uniform for 45 years, retiring in 1996 (midshipman, naval reserve, ROC school, naval officer, naval aviator, NJROTC senior naval science instructor). I'm now a self-publishing author and have two books of memoirs on the shelves of the Nimitz Library, USNA, Annapolis, MD. I felt I'd failed seriously when I left the academy due to academic difficulties. Life turned out well and I still fold my socks and underwear as taught as a plebe. I hope to make the 60th reunion (in San Diego?).
